I Have Been Blessed

All about how God has blessed me. In my marriage, with my six children, through homeschooling, and our faith with recipes, large family living, and updates on our life.

Fast Approaching

At the risk of looking too much towards the future and not enjoying today,I am really looking forward to this ever-so-fastly approaching Holiday Season. This time surrounding Thanksgiving on into Christmas is probably my favorite time of the year. I love this time where the weather is cooler, people seem happier because they are remembering all they have to be Thankful for, the stores are prettier as they decorate, ovens are busily working, and families come together.

For a Monday, this has been an exceptionally good day. Tomorrow will be busier, but today has been relaxing. The kids have been well behaved, School was finished without a hitch,  and we’ve even been able to get some things done around the house. I am really blessed.

We’ve been doing some extra work on Family’s and Memories and Thankfulness for our School Work. I love this. And we are starting something new where the bigger kids read to the littler kids each day. Tyler read Madelynne “Go, Dog, Go” and only had to ask a couple of words. Maddy looked at a book with Addy and Brendyn is waiting on Madelynne so he can read a book to her. Tyler had to draw a picture of a favorite thing we have done recently as a family. He drew a picture of Family Night at Church “FamLee Nite”. Love how he spelled it.

Over the weekend we had another of our Scrapbooking in the Country Crops and it went very well. It was a smaller crowd than last time, and I was definitely more worn out, and less motivated, but I always enjoy these weekends! I look forward to the next one in March, when I will also have a new addition to show off!!

I am SO BLESSED!

A Successful Weekend

What is the measure of success? What makes a weekend successful? For me this past weekend it meant a weekend filled with some of my favorite people, my favorite hobby, Yummy food, Laughter, Hugs, Brainstorming, Friend Therapy, Socializing …
I love our Scrapbooking Weekends. We had a small group, but that just meant we could talk more and more honestly. I was able to get about a dozen pages finished, managed to cook the meals despite having no stove
and a faulty breaker, and left feeling more relaxed and free than when I came. It’s Scrapbook Therapy. I wish the next one was sooner than April!!!
Five Special Blessings to me this weekend: Linda, Natasha, Jules, my favorite Scrapbook companion – Mom, and the best husband in the world who supports me in my hobby and watches all 5 kids all weekend.
Hope you are as Blessed as I am!

Crop in the Country

Not a vegetable crop ~ A Scrapbooking Crop. So excited that we had another great Scrapbooking Weekend. I got so much done! I made over 25 Christmas cards to sell, 3 Long Banners (Merry Christmas), and 4 short ones (2 Joy, 2 Noel). I am planning on selling them at the Growers and Crafters Market that we do on Saturdays in Wildwood (always there selling vegetables.)

I got to meet new people and thought they were great. See old friends (in time, not age!) Always love seeing Linda. (Even Austin thinks she is good people and he’s kind of picky about Scrapbookers!) Got to spend a whole weekend where Austin watched the kids (I have a GREAT husband!) doing my favorite hobby, spending time with friends, eating too much food, and having a great time!

The next one is already on the books ~ January 28-30th. And I can’t wait!

Five Special Blessings to Me Today: Mom (my most favorite of all Scrapbook Companions), Linda, Ann, Sharon, Jules, Kathy, and My Husband for watching all five kids all weekend! (I actually can count to five, but wanted to list 7 today!!)

Have a Blessed Day!

A Favorite Thing

I seriously think I could easily become addicted to online Scrapbooking. I love how easy it is to put a fantastic page together.

Page of Madelynne's 3rd Birthday

And Studio J from Close to My Heart, makes it so easy, my nine-year old could do it. (He has a couple of pages in progress, and plans on documenting his trip to Germany ~ Scrapbook pages that he a)made himself b)look great and c)you can read the handwriting = a Perfect Plan!!!!)

At one time I probably would have (and actually might have) looked down on digital scrapbooking, but that was five kids ago. I love that after bedtime, during nap time, anytime I have a computer, I can work on my Scrapbook. There is no mess for a two-year old to color on, pull stickers off of, drool on, or tip her sippy cup on. A one year old can’t swipe his hands across my page and ruin my layout plan. There is no scissors, markers, hole punchers, or paraphernalia lying around that the three-year old needs to pick up and “help Momma” with. It really is the perfect plan.

Also, there are so many paper and layout collections, that you can literally do the same layout twice and not recognize it (unless you are looking for it.) And if you needed the dimension, you could still add it! I am so excited to add these Studio J pages into my Scrapbooks, interspersed with the hand-cut, hand-stickered, labor-intensive pages. (I save those for crops, when above mentioned one, two, and three-year old stays home with Dadddy!!!!) And speaking of Mr. Skeptical ~ he liked the pages too!

January 2009

You can try Studio J for free. It’s addicting! So once you do it, and can’t wait to buy them, contact me, and I’ll give you the lowdown on how to get them cheaper!! The website to try it is: www.christinalee.myctmh.com (click on Studio J.) Have fun!!!!

Five Special Studio J Blessings: Lots of Paper Choices, Complicated Cuts that I don’t Have to Make, In-layout photo-editing and blowing up to get the best part of the picture, Ribbons-Buttons-and Brads oh my!!!, Preserving My Family’s Memories for the next generation!!

Hope your Day is Blessed!!

Loads of Laundry

I think I lost count after 6. I don’t know why, but I really hate laundry. Well it’s not the washing and drying part, it is the folding and putting away. In reality I should do at least 2 loads a day and then my laundry would never be backed up and I would never have to hear “Um, do I have any ….”. Instead I wait until I need to do laundry for about 2 days straight, get it all caught back up again, promise I’m going to keep it up, and then not touch it for a week. Such is my laundry cycle. Maybe one day I’ll grow out of it, or teach the kids to do their own.

Our internet has been working much better, so I have been trying to do at least one Studio J layout a day. Seriously, I think it would be very easy for me to go completely digital. It is so easy! There is no mess for little hands to destroy, I can do half a page at naptime, and if I can’t finish it, It saves exactly the way I left it. No little elves come and move the pictures, take the stickers to wear on their shirts, dump out the glitter, etc. As it is, I think there will definitely be a mix of digital and traditional, saving the traditional pages for when I go to crops. If you would like to try out Studio J, you can for free. Go to my website www.christinalee.myctmh.com and click on Studio J. It’s a lot of fun, and slightly addicting. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

I can’t think of anything extra cute my kids did today, so I’ll end it here.

Five special blessings to me today: The energy to get the laundry done, A husband who finally takes me advice and has scheduled a doctor’s appointment, Church tonight, The internet working much better, In-laws that I truly love (don’t know why but the parents and sisters in-law have been in my thoughts lately and I am reminded how thankful I am to have them and love them.)

Hope your day is more blessed than mine!

A Great Weekend

I really had a great weekend. I got to participate in my favorite hobby, Scrapbooking. I got a lot accomplished (22 pages done!) I decided that I was just going to take my box of pictures (some of these go back to 2003) and just start from the beginning and do as much as I could with what I had. In doing that I saw how my Scrapbooking friends have really been a part of my life, as in, these aren’t just people I scrapbook with. There were LOTS of Scrapbookers at my wedding 6 years ago. I had a picture of Linda and her husband and son at a Halloween get together. I had pictures of Dee (and Robert) at The Melting Pot. Pictures of them with my kids at Christmas time. Lately, I have really been pointing out to myself how much I am blessed, and this was just another reminder. I am blessed to have a diverse group of friends who I love.

Five Special Blessings to Me Today: A Hobby that becomes a Blessing and the friends that come along with it, A Husband who supports the hobby, watches the kids while I am gone, looks at all I’ve accomplished and is still smiling at me when I come home, A Mom who Scrapbooks life right along side of me as often as possible, A daughter who is FINALLY becoming accomplished at the potty (dry for 2 1/2 days), and the opportunity to take the nap that I know I am going to need this afternoon.

Hope your day is more blessed than mine!
