I Have Been Blessed

All about how God has blessed me. In my marriage, with my six children, through homeschooling, and our faith with recipes, large family living, and updates on our life.

Sending Me Angels

There is a song “Sending Me Angels”. I don’t find it coincidental that the chorus of this song has been stuck in my head.

He sent me angels on the night of my accident.

I don’t know their names. I’m not sure what kind of car they were driving. They were right behind me on the road and saw the accident. Now, the accident happened at 12:15 am (midnight). And I do know, that the people were headed to the airport to pick up their daughter. They had someplace to be and a time frame to get there. They did not know me, and I did not know them. But they stopped, and they stayed. And I was blessed by them being there.

Right after the crash, when I am turning off the truck, and crawling out, they stopped. They got out of their car, and came to me, asking if I was okay. I was. But I was shaking, and scared, and repeating “they were in my lane, they hit me, I’m 9 weeks pregnant.” And the lady, came, and wrapped me in her arms, and hugged me. And patted my back. And told me it would be okay. And hugged me. And hugged me.

Her husband was also out of the car, and kept saying, in his authoritative voice, “You did everything right. You did a good job. You didn’t flip your truck. You tried to avoid it. You did everything right.” Listening to his words, I didn’t need to question myself. I didn’t need to keep replaying it over and over, wondering if anything could have been different.

I don’t know if I am the kind of person, that would get out of my car, at midnight, to go hug a stranger. I hope I am, because I will never forget the comfort that those strangers, those angels, brought to me!

I am SO Blessed!

Riding an Elephant

My Maddy loves Elephants. She wants a pet Elephant. She wants to ride an Elephant. (Or so she said.) A few weeks ago the Fair was in town and Mom called me excitedly (4 times) to tell me there were Elephant rides at the Fair. I talked to Maddy about it again. I told her how BIG an Elephant was. How Tall. “Are you sure you want to ride an Elephant, Maddy?” Yes, Mommy. But then, unfortunately, it didn’t work out for us to go the Fair.

But a very kind and generous lady gave us tickets to the Circus. Saturday was the Circus. The kids loved it! (Especially seeing the Elephants, especially the baby (5 year old) one, with the little girl who walked around with it!) There were also tigers, acrobats, trapeze, a four-wheeler tricks (Brendyn’s favorite part), Unicyclers, Clowns, Monkeys, Even dogs and cats who did acts in the circus! And Grammy bought them popcorn, and a light-up sword/wand. Her and I took Bren, Tyler, Maddy and Addy.

During the intermission, what do they announce, but a chance to ride the Elephant. Mom looked at me, I shrugged, we paraded down to the three rings. We get down there and I pull Maddy aside. She is at this point, in awe at seeing the Elephants so close, and

Yes, she does want to ride it! So does Tyler, and Adreya. Not Brendyn! I decide to pass on Adreya (I was afraid she might fall off!!) So we let Tyler and Maddy go. Madelynne loved it! LOVED it! As soon as she got up there, she leaned down to pet and touch and stroke the Elephant (She felt like an Elephant!!!).

She was ear to ear smiling the whole time. At one point Tyler was holding on to the rope with one hand, and with the other hand was holding Madelynne against him (They are kid 2 and 3 in the picture). I thought, “That is the sweetest thing ever, him holding on to her, protecting her. He doesn’t want her to fall off.” I asked him about it afterwards. He said “Madelynne was holding on better than me, and I didn’t want to fall off!!” There goes that theory! It was sweet regardless. Maybe I’ll just pretend I never asked him!

It was a great day. Even on the ride home (over an hour and half), they still had the excitement built up in them, and chatted about everything!

I am so Blessed!

Showers of Blessing

In reflection, it is so easy to look back over 2010 and see that God has had his hand on us, protecting us, providing for us. He has done more than take care of us. We have sincerely been Blessed. There have been weeks when our entire income was $20. But somehow God kept providing for us. Whenever things got real tight, I worked hard at trying to remember God is in control and taking care of us, and He always came through. Not once in 2010 did our Bank Account go into the negative.

We had a great Christmas. God provided for us in the way of sales on just what would be perfect for Christmas. Toys from Toys-for-Tots. We got a remarkable gift from a stranger. (A $97 tip on a #3 sale of vegetables – I almost cried!!) God has really taken care of us.

I am so thankful! I am so blessed! I can’t wait to see how big 2011 is going to be as I get even better at putting my faith and trust in Him.
