I Have Been Blessed

All about how God has blessed me. In my marriage, with my six children, through homeschooling, and our faith with recipes, large family living, and updates on our life.

Chores, Schedules, Reward Charts, Oh My….

on August 3, 2011

In my spare time (I can manage to eek out 3-5 minutes a day!), I have been revamping, redoing, and reorganizing what will soon be our *new* Chore Chart, Schedule, and Reward System. It’s a little bit MOTH, a little bit Chore Packs, a little bit Accountable Kids, and a little bit Lee Family Wisdom (i.e. – What works for us!)

I don’t have it all figured out yet. Well, I have the individual components *mostly* figured out. I just don’t have the BIG *this is how it all comes together* part figured out. I’m still thinking on it.

Each child will have 3 chore packs (morning, afternoon, evening) and there will be 5 ‘levels’ of rewards … (Black, Red, Yellow, Green, Silver/Gold). Trying to think of a visual *something* that represents each child, their chore packs, and what color they are on. That’s not asking too much is it??

If you have any ideas feel free to comment.

  1. Oh, I love my chore chart. Nicholas loves it too for this how he earns his fun stuff. I made him aware, that my financial responsibility for him is clothes, bed, and food. Anything additional is fun! It sounds more harsh than necessary. He earns tickets (The kind you get it at Wal-Mart in the office supply, and I believe they come in all sorts of colors.) Just have reward center for the tickets. Can be as simple as computer time, choice of movie, Wii time, money, and etc.) Nick loves to pick out his reward. I also have Nick, keep 100 tickets in his “Bank”, this cuts down on the get 5 tickets lets turn them in “Right Now” …..it is a good system, it really cuts down on having to make multiple request for the same task, it makes them more self-reliant, and the most important thing is to praise them when the earn the ticket. You feel the difference, it can be hard for the kids to get on board. When it all comes together, it is awesome!

Drink lots of water after your massage. It will help your body flush all the toxins that get released into your system. Trust me! It can save you from feeling crummy for a few days afterwards.
