I have never seen a ballet, and really have never heard one. It was, in that spirit, interesting for us to receive The Story of Swan Lake by Maestro Classics. I knew vaguely that Swan Lake was the story of a prince who falls in love with the princess, who had been turned into a Swan.
This CD, available for $16.98 as a CD, or $9.98 as an MP download, and geared for ages 6-12, was really fun to listen to. It has a total playing time of just over an hour. The first track is The Story of Swan Lake (which is 33 minutes) and narrated. Other tracks include information on Tchaikovsky’s life, a guitar arrangement called Speed Metal Swam, information about the music, and more. The CD was recorded by the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
Also included is a 24-page activity book that contains a biography of Tchaikovsky, information on acoustic and electric guitars, sheet music and words for a sing-along song, explanation of major and minor keys, and fun activities.
I think this is definitely something to play while the girls are cleaning their rooms, or during their play time to dance around to. We received this product for free to write an honest review, which I believe I have done. Other homeschoolers received this product as well, and you can find their review, as well as mine, listed here.
We have been Blessed.
